The sun was shining most of the day - enough to get a sun burn at the Cecil County Dragway for Vintage Thunder. :yesnod: It was a dual NCCC event and NCRS Vintage Thunder Dragracing event. I won the NCCC Women's Eliminations! Lots of club points for that. :D They didn't run an NCCC Top elimator round.
After NCCC they started the main VT events. We got to the very last round of Vintage Thunder Women's Eliminations (Me and a gal in a 50th anniv C5) and they closed the track with the lightning storm a few miles away. So we both took home trophies as they called it a "tie". I lost the coin flip and got the 'leftover' top eliminator trophy. I really wish they would have waited about 15 more seconds before closing the track! I'll have to see if my club can get a new stick-on label made for the thing so that in 10 years I don't forget that I didn't really win Top Elimator. :jester:
How do they usually decide these things when they can't run the last race? The last round of eliminations we did run, the other gal had a better reaction time than me (I forget hers but mine was .157) but she broke out - just by a smaller margain than her opponent. I ran 15.636 on a 15.45 dialin.
Hey, at least the wipers worked for the drive home! ~Juliet
Juliet always has a great day at the drags. :) Congrats. I might also add that her day started out badly. Before leaving her house, she had to jump start her 3 week old battery to get going. Drove to Cecil, shut off the car....battery still dead. It wouldn't charge. Got a hot shot and drove about 15 miles to Aberdeen to buy a new Delco, put it in, drove back to the track, and blew everyone's doors off. Chuck
I had to pass on the Thunder this year... Maybe its bad karma for me at Cecil anyway... remember last year. No really I had to pass since my new clutch setup isn't broken in yet. Congrats on winning......
Congrats Juliet. Somewhat of a bittersweet victory since the day couldnt be finished due to weather. In my opinion, to compare your timeslip to the other gal, yours was the winner. If she ran out...she ran out. Had that compairison been a real race, you could have run a 20 flat on a 15 dial in and still have been the winner. They were in too much of a hurry to get out of there. IMHO, the coin toss was not the best way of deciding it. No matter what, give yurself a pat on the back for a great day of racing.

BTW..i noticed yur A/C compressor was missin but I saw the bracket there. I got a Factory Air remanufactured long style compressor and new lines I took of my car not too long ago. If yur interested drop me an email...o942@aol.com. Ill cut you a good deal.

Thanks Chuck. I had a ball racing Pat! I think this was the first time we got to race each other. :) I'm sure if she hadn't broke out the one race (she said it actually shifted that time!) that she would have eliminated me! :D Ah well, this gives her a whole year to razz you about the car! :jester:
The thing that royally miffed me about the battery was that 2 weeks ago when it was dead I brought it back to the shop. They insisted it was a drain in the car and forced a charge back into it and wouldn't let me get a credit towards a new one since I'd only used up 3 of my 7 year warranty on the thing. It lasted one week to restart the car and one week later ZIP! I was thinking since they *supposedly* tested the thing (obviously NOT!!) maybe it was the center storage light if it wasn't clicked down all the way and turned off. But after hour-20 mins drive up it would have recharged the battery. I called them and asked them to deliver me a new one or a loaner to Cecil County Dragway, but they declined. :jester I can't wait to march in there next week with an "I told you so" attitude. ~Juliet

They officially called the women's eliminations a *tie*. The coin toss was for who gets the trophy which was labeled correctly. I'll see if I can get the club to get a new label for the trophy I got which reads Women's Eliminator. I'm not the top eliminator this year - I just will hold onto last years trophy title (which I won fair and square!) for one more year! :jester: Since we didn't get to run Top Eliminations this year.

Thanks, but I think I'm OK. My original is up at Tony's Corvette along with the dryer and other AC components. Sophia is scheduled to go into the shop Monday AM for AC restoration. I disassembled what I could and sent it up in advance for rebuilding. The AC system is something I'm not going to monkey with. If I do end up needing something I'll be sure to contact you ASAP. Do you have any of the original hoses with the double crimps still? I won't know if mine has leaks till they test it. It will be awesome having functional AC for the National Caravan to Nashville! What a Treat that will be! :jester A pricey treat, since I've been saving for 2 years to get this done, but great nonetheless! ~Juliet
