Someone could get a great deal! That is a #458520 intake for a 1978 and early 1979 L-82.

would that intake be worth any ponies for my L48? Or would it be better to get an Air Gap? I want to keep the Qjet for now. I already have dual exhaust through the Ramshorns. My next mods will be richer jets (way lean now) and a recurve kit, then cam. Should intake be next?
Thanks,

I would say little or no difference without the L-82 cam to go with it. That intake does look very nice and weighs much less than cast iron, however.

If my memory serves me well, the airgap will cause problems with hood clearance.

I have bought several #14007378 (1979 L-82) intakes off EBay. They typically run about $50-75. The one in the pic has been completely re-done and equipped with a new GM EGR, thermal vacuum switches (TVSs), and a t-stat housing. Given all those new pieces I would not let it go for less than $125.

The market is with people like me who prefer originality. And that market is small for the 1979 model year. But there are buyers out there.
