It was a hot one in manitoba with the mercury pushing 30C +
I was driving the vette down a long stretch of highway and I notice the temp gauge reading 240!!!!! i'm thinking, holy smokes, this is crazy, luckily I had a mechanic friend who lived a few miles away, so I boogy down there and tell him to get the temperature gun out to check the temps....
we check the upper rad hose from intake to the rad, 200F, we check at the connection to the intake, ~200F, we check another hose, ~200F, then we check where the temp sensor is (put the gun on the sensor) 240F....???
i have headers and the temp sensor is about 2inches from the header tube
any ideas on remedying this situation, it is always reading over 220F, even though the water isn't that hot
What type of temp gun is it? How did it register the temp? (Direct contact?). The tem sender would be more accurate, because the water temp in the heads is where we wan to monitor.
