Is this the trade deal you mentioned a while back (engine work for painting your acquaintance's car), or are you getting this engine from a different builder? Just curious...

The guy i was going to trade with is having second thoughts.. he priced out a 375hp engine and it came out to 1600 dollars. he thought that was a little too high for a paint job so he is un sure. I'm going with my former boss who builds race engines.

does anyone know if the XE268 cam will need a higher stall convertor? I'd like to run the stock one if possible :smash:

need to know rear, and driving habits.
a 268xe will work but i don't know if you will be satisfied. Lots depends on how well it is tuned. my xe262 works well, but i am 50 and don't want to squeal the tires(too many cops around here)

Deal fell through.. I'm kinda ticked about that too.

I'd love to do a more aggressive gear but I do a lot of driving with the car (mostly highway) so i dont really wanna kill myself on fuel

i drive mine hard 30-90.
it shifts at 56 into 2nd
90 into 3rd. 3.08 rear.
i roll into the throttle flooring it at 30
a 3.08 is not going to give drag strip launches.
you will need to recalibrate the governor for 6000 shifts to take advantage of the 268xe

This guy is obviously smoking something, or he doesn't expect a very nice paint job. :yesnod:

I shift it manually.. besides, if i HAVE to drag race it, thats where the 2400 stall convertor will come into play

Corey, I think you'll be satisfied with the 268 cam. I had it min my 327 before I yanked it out. It had a very noce lope at idle, good torque and midrange, all around great cam. :yesnod:

The only thing i would change is: Small quench and get into the 10 ish compression . Lopey cams bleed off pressure and you gain back more TQ.

I did a 355 ci motor years ago like yours. They turn a Vette into a real car again. No more sand in the face!
