Weird Rearend Wiggle
Sounds crazy but here's the deal. Recently had the front bushings, ball joints, tie rod ends, steering control valve, all 4 calipers, master cylinder and brake booster replaced as well as a 4 wheel alignment done. Car runs straight and steers like a dream under normal driving and acceleration but.....if I'm under heavy power (not full out but strong) and then let off I can feel the back end wiggle/shift left to right and then again when I hit the gas. This is more pronounced at around 60-70 mph.
I'm baffled, anyone have a clue what might be going on????

Re: Weird Rearend Wiggle (Demar)
I know the feeling. I am guessing most of my rear bushings are shot so the rear end has some play in it allow it to shift back and forth. Half shaft play might also be a factor.

Re: Weird Rearend Wiggle (Fevre)
One of my diff output shafts was worn and allowed the shift on my car. :U
I wound up putting in a rebuilt diff so I should not have to worry about it anymore.

i know exactly what you are talking about,i just went through this same thing about 3 months ago.more than likely your control arm bushings have seen thier better days.replacing them should take care of your problem.

Similar thing in my 79 and found that the centre bracket thats bolts to under side of diff housing where rear strut rods bolt into had broken three of the four bolts and the last one was loose.
worth a look.

Man, I LOVE when she does that weird rear end wiggle, makes me...
OH, gee...you'r talking of the car????
frame is first thing I"d check....cross members where diff attaches on top and the cross thwart where the pinion snout attaches, and the junciton of all of those section right in front of the rear wheels....RUST is the culprit...
but on the other subject, I just LOVE those weird wiggles when I get on it....

Looks like you've got lots of good advice. Me - it was the combination of a rear bearing with too much play combined with a strut rod bushing that had too much wiggle room.
I thought it was trailing arm bushing, and proceeded to remove two perfectly good original rubber trailing arm bushings as part of the winter 2001/2002 suspension rebuild project.
It pulls straight now.

Re: Weird Rearend Wiggle (Demar)
check to make sure you didnt lose any trailing arm shims, i had a shop not safety wire the shim pack in after an alignment once and they all dropped out of one trailing arm, it caused the same thing you describe.

Check: in order
Strut rod bushings
Bearing play
Side yoke wear
Trailing arm bushings
Strut rod brackets
Pinion bushing
