Does anybody have any pics showing how the Hooker Sidepipes
are supposed to be attached to the frame?
The sidepipes that I picked up did not come with any mounting hardware.
Also, does anyone know where I can pick up some mounting hardware.
Hopefully, someone has pics showing how to bolt these to the frame.
TIA.:seeya
From what I saw on the two cars at Back to the 50's that had them it was just one band holding up the rear of the tube and the header held up the front.
The mounts are bolts welded to rectangular steel plates. They slide into the keyhole shaped slots in the side of the frame. Then there are washers, rubber insulators, and a nut. I had hooker sidemounts on a '65 convert more years ago than I care to admit. I just poked around the drawers in the garage, and I still have two of the mounting bolts/plates. If you want them, they're yours. :D
I was thinking about getting some big ol' hooker side pipes and chrome headers.. any idea how much a kit like this would run and where the best place to get them is? :D
Both tabs on the sidepipe are attached to the side of the frame, even though I only have the back ones installed in this picture.
The bolts are T-bolts that slide into slots on the side of the fram, no drilling necessary, although I did end up trimming where the body hangs down around them to make it easier to install.
