Lots of smart people here so I am throwing this out to ya:
To some it up I ran over a skunk on Fri the 13th (could have been a black cat) and I now have no spark. How do I test the ign module and the connection to the coil? I think a wire must have come loose somewhere but I guess the ign module could have fried. I have an accell coil and dist on my 89 Formula.
Thanks
EDIT
After thining about it I have had times where it would not start after tunning it for a while and I have heard that is a sign of a bad module. What would be good replacement module, will the stock GM one work? Part number would be greatly appreciated since I will be going to a parts store and my car is not stock which sometimes throws the counter guy.
Well two easy things to check before you go to the parts store are do you have power to the igntion module? and are you getting an RPM signal from your tach terminal? Or even easier yet (just thought about it), most parts stores can check your module for free, so just drag it up there with you, I know autozone normally carries a tester in every store, although I don't know if the accell module would be the same or not.
The ign module tested bad but I have feeling I have wiring problems. One in while it won't turn ove/start and it is doing it again. I hit the cyl directly and it turns over so I think I have some wirring problems to figure out. Throw in an after market FI system with no wiring diagram (and no gaurantee it was followed anyways) and I think I might have a few hours of frustration ahead.
The HEI in my Blazer would act up and have no spark. Sometimes i could just tap the bottom of the dist with a tire iron and then it would start right up. i guess it would shock something into working order again. Fiunally I went to rebuild the dist and had a heck of a time getrting it apart because all the gum and gunk built up on ther inner shaft made it difficult get it out of the housing. Then I realized that one of the wires to the pickupo coil was hangin on by a thread. As the parts prices began to add up I just decided to scrap the whole thing and dropped in a new Summit HEI. The ran much better after that then it had in a long while.
I rewired to bypass the passkey :bs and it cranked right away. I am not sure what the problem was and it maybe the Accell computer going south. The batt was too drained to get it to crank much after I did the rewire so I'll see if it will fire this morning before I head to work. Hope the neighbors don't mind open headers at 7 am. :)
And the shaft was rusted/corroded so I also replaced the cap and rotor along with ign module. Still need to get a wiring diagram for the computer so I can check the ign signal, seems everything is getting the proper 12v.
