I have the regular Hedman's ie. non ceramic coated, I think that the ones you ordered are fine. What most ppl comment on with the Hedman, Dynomax and even Hooker cc headers is that the quality of the coating inside is not as good as having it done by a co. that specializes in c. c. MotorHead on this forum just had his Hedman's (at least 5 yrs. old) coated locally and they look great. Hope this helps.

I have the Hedman ceramic coat with the A.I.R fittings. Same headers you have, just with the extra tubing.

I love them. They fit in just fine. The only thing close is the idler arm, but there is enough room.

I called Hedman about the installation. They say to use the gaskets that come with the headers and use some good bolts, like the Stage-8 locking bolts. They said to install them and torque them to 20 on all of the bolts and then 30. Drive for 1/2 hour and then park it. Let it cool overnight and then re-torque back to 30 and then install the locking collars for the bolts.

You may want to call them and ask them about the total torque again. I am pretty sure they said 30, but you will want to check on that.

They said NOT to use the metal gaskets such as the copper or aluminum ones. They said people crush them done to make it so they don't leak. After that the will not "spring back" like the paper gaskets and then you will have leaks. The only way to get rid of the leaks it to torque them down more, and then you warp the flanges, ruin the gaskets and may ruin the threads or break a bolt.

Again, call them to get the best info on installation and gaskets.

I didn't have a choice as I have emissions to pass down here. I tell you though, it was a massive pain in the azz getting the bolts torqued and then put locking colars on them with the A.I.R. tubing in the way. You won't have that problem, but I think that a Corvette with angle plug heads with headers that have A.I.R. pipes must be the hardest combination to ever do headers.

Heck Mine has standard heads, and it's enough of a pain in the ****! And I have no idea at all, how they expect you to torque them. Thats never going to happen - ya just have to get them til they feel tight because you'll never get a torque wrench near them.
