What engine are you running in the vette for 500hp?
Have someone check the alignment of the trans to the mount to the crossmember. A 1/4" will strain the mount. Breaking a mount is better than tearing up behind the trans!

I would say something is definitely wrong. My buddy's dad runs a '67 Camaro and it turns mid 9s down the 1/4 with a rubber tranny mount. Sounds like something is out of balance. Can you feel any vibration?
