What makes a starter just go clunk?
Damn Formula is doing its best to stay out of the heat, bypassed the stupid Passkey system so I think my intermitant no crank problem is fixed but after trying to start it once and running the batt down it now only makes a clunk sound when I try to start it after batt recharge? Just glad it died after I got the vette going.

Corrosion on the battery cable connections.
Bad solenoid (i.e. the copper disc has arced too many times and no longer makes contact).
Battery could be toast - need a load tester to determine (yes, it can appear to take a full charge and be junk).
Starter motor could be toast (if you heated it up too much when trying to start it before, you could have melted the solder inside).
