Default Annoying buzzer

I have a warning buzzer that sounds as if it's behind the centre consul ('80 year) It has a bad connection so it keeps buzzing when I hit a bump or pothole, What is it so that I can rip it out??

Hi Colin. I've got an '80 too - down in Surrey. Could it be the seat belt warning buzzer playing up? Going to the Nationals on Sunday?

My uncle Lefty used to hear bells. He was a boxer back in the 50's and everytime the phone would ring he'd dance around and then hammer aunt Wilma in the side of the noggin'. After 18 years of being put to sleep on the kitchen floor, she shot him.
My advice, ignore the buzzer, unless it's making you do strange things.

I believe that will be your choke relay. I think you can get at it by removing the ash tray. Try pulling it out and listening there. It will be a fairly small cylinder (I think) on a couple of wires. I had run a new wire anyway so I just omitted mine.

On second thought (after rereading your post) I don't think this would be it ...if it sounds like a warning buzzer, then not. The bad choke relay is a faint buzzing sound that sounds like it is coming from the clock area but actually originates under the ashtray (approx.)

Good luck

on the topic of buzzing noises hate to forum jack but i get the same thing only when i turn my car off? I have no clue what this is?! sounds more like it's coming from the map pocket area/passenger seat than from ashtray though I looked in there.

I have a 72 btw

I had a buzzer that went off at anytime, it was a warning for when the lights are on and the car is off, or that the key is in the ignition. Anyway, it was hooked up to the fuse box, so I just pulled it off. The wiring in my car is screwed up from the previous owneres "sound system" I think, so I could be wrong.

Its not in bad nick, Colin. Had it about two years and have done a few bits and pieces. A good daily driver but not a show winner. Its amazing what strange things are up with it/go wrong. The wiring in mine is really poor - I keep finding wires that have been cut and covered in masking tape and I have no idea what they once connected to. The theory I am currently following is the 'if it aint broke...'

...then we can soon break it ;)
My '81 warning buzzer is fitted in the fuse panel above the brake pedal & is a bit smaller than a cig packet. It just pulls out & the annoying buzzing is no more. Had your Vette long? You're just up the road from me!

Hi Andrew. Good to catch up with you at the Nats. Will C U at the meet next month :)

Hi,
Yes, I was there with the Vette. I was looking out for a few people, including you, but the new way that the cars have been arranged made it really difficult to find people. The old layout was much easier as all the C3's were parked together. The Vette was parked on the right of the field in the Hampshire area (along with a few other Surrey Vettes!!) just up from the yellow Viper & the 50th Anniversary Z06. A couple of people wanting to see the 200-4r were regularly seen lying next to the car, but without a hoist all that they could see was the bottom of the pan! To give an idea of how good the tranny is: last year I filled the fuel tank, drove to the Nats & home & the gauge was reading just off empty. This year I filled it up &, on getting home, the gauge is around the 1/2 full mark!!!!! Plus when I arrived, I could actually hear what people were saying to me :D
Starter motor is OK, but I fitted a heat shield to the new one.
Are you doing any other shows this summer? There's a classic car show in Capel & the Surrey mob are having a display, so I'll probably be there.

I thought your car looked good Paul, but what I really want is a run in it - perhaps at the next Fairmile meet? I will bring my incontinence pants. If you are saving all that cash on fuel it looks like money well spent. So how much time do you reckon it took all in all? (please exclude the spliff breaks).
I thought that Queen track sounded good - no matter what Steve said. However I did have back in black in the car too but Alison put her foot down at that one. Maybe I can deafen you with it when shes not around. The Cd player was in there but a similar model would only cost about £130, 4 pioneers about £100 and the sub was £200 I think - thats what really makes the difference; enough to frighten old ladies and scare dogs - just what you need when the local one (dog, not old lady) insists on marking your car as its territory. I did think of one of those electrified alarms but our cat p*sses up it too and the missus would kill me if it came in looking like a puffball... :troll

Good to see you back in the land of the living after your ball&chain operation. :D

Skeets,
No, but we were close to that one. We left at about 5.00pm & there was only one other Vette parked near mine. It was exactly the same & parked right next to me, so if you saw 2 white '80-'82 C3's parked side by side, mine was the one on the right.
Andrew,
No problem, I'll give you a run in it. Are you sure though? Once you've felt that OD you WILL want one :) To do the swap (without cleaning up the underside of the car, making a custom exhaust, changing UJ's, painting......) I reckon a weekend would be enough time. The physical tranny swap is very easy (once the car is up in the air), the cooler lines may be a problem depending on where the exhaust pipes run, the new shifter takes a couple of hours to fit & probably the same again for the TV Made EZ kit. The problem is that things can snowball. If you do it you will definately need the Bowtie x-member as the stock one is impossible to fit back on. And when you've got the Bowtie x-member you'll notice that you can run true duals straight back........
What is it with women & ACDC????? I was told that ACDC etc was totally out for our wedding but, being me, I put some on the CDs for the evening. And guess what? When ACDC started pumping out the party really kicked off, the barman bypassed the noise limiter & I've got videotape proof that women really do dance to ACDC  They just don't want to admit to liking it :D

I'm obviously hanging around with the wrong women... :nonod:

Only a weekend to do that work (once you've got the bits of course)? sounds great. I'll get the lowdown from you on it after I've 'tested the goods'. Next step for me is interior though. I've been talked into nearly a whole kit by sdixon. Seems like a good deal when its "gifted" across the pond. Yet to finalise price but I'll keep you posted.
