starter won't turn over when engine is hot

My vette just stated this weird activity. It will start and run fine. But if I drive a while, stop and turn it off. When I turn the key, nothing at all. I can let it sit for a little while and it turns right over and starts.
Is the starter crapping out on me or is there a bigger problem looming?

It is called Heat Soak......You need to either get a Mini starter or a Guard to protect it from heat called a Heat Shield

Okay, I have heard of heat soak, but I thought it only happened to a big block. Who carries the mini staters or heatshields? :confused:

No it happens to all kinds of cars....Including my vette and 67 Firebird.....Summit or Jegs should have both probably

Thanks for the info. I found the shield and that starter at ecklers. I am going to try the heat sheild first. :steering:

There could be two possibilities. One could be starter heat soak, which is what I think it could be. The other is too much timing advance. Both will cause the motor to have fits whenever you try to start it when it's hot.
