Just got back from Nashville and cruised down with the Michigan Corvette Caravan. What a fabulous time! I couldn't stay for the ZZ Top Concert (which should be going on in about an hour or so) The cruise from the Grand Victoria Casino in Rising Sun Indiana was F-A-B-U-L-O-U-S! It rained the night before and thank GOD the humidity and heat FINALLY let up! The sun was coming up and every town we were in, the cops had the intersections blocked and we waived to everyone along the way. (We drove through Patriot Indiana pop. 6)
Here's some pix to amuse you that were taken at the Kentucky Speedway. It was like a blazing inferno that day. In the 90's not a tree in sight for shade and stuck out on the track until we could take off. Unfortunatley, due to the HUGE number of Vettes on the track, it was difficult to go above 50 unless you drove the high back row (like me!). Some guy said he could drive faster backwards, you had to be there to hear when he said that on the walkie talkie. But to out fox the traffic jam, we put on the breaks until we had a 1/4 mile break and then we just floored it! Oh well, we just had to make do.
I'll post more pix later, I'm too pooped after driving 8 hours, unpacking and washing the bug guts off my car. (I put 1,000 miles on the CE! YIKES!)
Great pics. You didn't miss anything much by skipping the ZZ Top concert. There was a long boring awards ceremony beforehand (no cars on the field), and when the band finally took the stage, they didn't seem too keen on playing their hits, so I left.
They drove the band out to the stage in a golf cart. Couldn't they have driven them out in Vettes? Hmmm?
