Re: C3 Protect-O-Plate Location (Motor City Vette)
It would be in the rear center compartment or glove box. The owners manual and other important info would be there also! OK it may be in the pass rear compartment? Don't have my JG. Thad
Re: C3 Protect-O-Plate Location (Motor City Vette)
Your protect-o-plate is most likely long gone, unless you got it with all of the paperwork and stuff from the last owner. It is aa embossed meteal credit card sized ID thing that the dealers used to varify warranty work. Originals are rare but I have seen a few. Iy you find mine send it to me.
I saw three protecto plates for sale today at a local car show, a 65, 67, and 68. Also saw a 71 for sale on ebay about a year ago. There are some out there, but god luck finding the right one. I sure haven't found mine yet.
Awesome! Thanks Ed. The 70 registry also has some great photos. All I have that is original is:
The Odometer Mileage Statement Disclosure Form showing 12 miles on the vette.
The New Vehicle Inspection Procedure Delivery Report.
The Form 747 Owners Manual envelop (sans any documents including no protecto-plate). I do have an owners manual and consumer info pamphlets, but they are repros.
The Firestone Radial Steel Belt Tire Mileage and Rotation Record dated 11-13-74, but never filled in with anything other than the original typed-in info of owner, dealer, and car with the date penned in. It was a typewriter as evident of the way the letters do not line up like with a computer printer.
Oh, and a tank sticker build sheet which is almost intake and almost readable.
I really wish I had a protecto-plate though!
Other than the name and address of the owner and the serial number of the car, I never tried to decode the rest of the numbers. Can anyone else help.
Ed
