Anyone ever use Prestone Super Anti-Rust for radiators? It's supposed to have conditioner and sealer in it. Just curious on your thoughts about this stuff...is it harmful in anyway, etc.
Stewart Components recommends it for non-freezing climates mixed with tap water. I couldn't find the Prestone, but I use the Zerex stuff that is similar. Stewarts says that one is OK too.
MCV,
It is not harmfull but is not needed if you have good antifreeze/coolant in the system. They are formulated with all that is needed to keep the system in shape for a period of time.
Ditto on the demineralized water be it a iron or aluminum head motor.
I would use distilled water instead of tap water. No minerals to bond to the insides of everything. Cost is low.
Actually, I did use distilled on the advice of you guys on the Forum :yesnod:
There have been questions posted on Stewart Component website about that and they advocate just saving money and using tap. I'm sure some areas of the country are worse than others for mineral deposits. Distilled is only 67 cents a gallon at Walmart. Ok, so I'll have to do without health insurance this month so I can buy it, but I did :p:
