If you are going to make it work with an undercar exhaust go for long tube headers. I'm going with some blockhuggers to meet up with my custom side exhaust when I get around to making it.

Since you have a '79, headers and dual exhaust can be done for under $500. Do the full length, thermal coated headers.

Most "shorty" headers dont flow any better than the original Ram Horns. Just look at 'em and you see the similarity. As for buyin or fabbin the rest, thats your call.....depending on prices, availability, etc. GOOD Luck!
