Would I be crazy to get another C3 for a DD?
So i've got the '76, but it's a basketcase project for now. I need a new DD, but there are so few cars out there that make me happy. I want a RWD, manual tranny, preferably not a 4-banger. I don't really like Camaros, Firebirds, or C4s, and a C5 is out of my price range, so that pretty much limits me to older Japanese muscle like 300ZXs, Supras, 3000GTs (I know, not RWD), etc. But the F&F crowd seems to have snatched up all the decent examples of those cars whilst driving the prices of the remaining ones through the roof.
SO! We come full circle right back to .... the C3. I could probably pick up a decent local car for around 10k. ...certainly not show quality at that price but reliable at least. good/bad idea? dunno ..

How about a 70-74 Datsun 240 with a small block chevy in it :)
It will be *super* fast! and pretty cheap!

Nope - not crazy - a DD vette is not hard to find or keep on the road - I drive mine every day - even today with pea soup fog.... :steering:

A couple things I'd like to say.
Make sure you don't get the itch, 'cuz once the itch comes, these cars get really expensive really fast.
Make one of them a toy and the other a cruiser(I think you know which car should be which already), I think my C3 would be much more enjoyable as a daily driver if it had the base suspension and not what I've installed, but I don't mind it so much. :)
Other than that, no worries! Enjoy it, I've driven mine for four years with no significant issues. (Other than the engine grenading in the first year...)

next year, when the c6 comes out, early c5's will fall into your price range.
But if you find a really nice c3 before then, buy it!

Just remember, T Top leaks can sometimes be impossible to stop. How much will you have to spend to make the car "comfortable"? Don't daily drive anything you can't replace fairly easy. If you get daily driver insurance, will they pay you what you want in the event the car is totaled?
