In preparation for starting the seatbelt conversion (F-Body - Vette), I removed the seat back trim plate that the shoulder belt passes through, only to discover that Chevy did not just put a removable cover over the opening. It is cast with a solid cover. :mad
I guess this means that I now have to buy the trim plates for a car that had the shoulder belt option. Or, has anybody had any success with cutting the opening? It looks pretty solid. :smash:
Mine is metal also , just repainted it a couple of months ago. I been trying to see if I could get my shoulder belt to route around the seat , maybe use some kind of hanger on the seat , I know some people have used a hanger on the piller behind the seat , but with a vert you are limited to what you can do
A Fiero , holy crap , can we find a part off of something that isn't such a great white ghost.
Watch it........I had a Fiero and it was one of the best cars I ever owned. Fun to drive, cornered on rails and I never had a problem with it. When I sold it, it had 147,000 ticks on the clock and they were not pampered clicks either. I wish they still made them. I always wanted to to the V8 conversion on mine until I got my Vette. Man I wish I still had that car...it was fun.
pra4sun - remember to post how you solve the through the seat problem for all of us early sharks.

Yea, my neighbor still has his Fiero. Fun little car.
I just picked up some seatbelts as well. Since my seats need to be recovered and several parts replace (not planning on that for some time, I have some margin of error in tetsing various ideas. I really want the belts to run through the seat. I will post any findings good or bad.
Re: Another Seatbelt Conversion Dilemma (Robert N)
 Gotta be careful dissing any car here. Funny what car nuts will fall in love with. There was a thread some time back where somebody got touchy when someone else criticized the old 4-banger mustangs they made back in the late 70's--now that's one of them "only a mother could love" sorts of cars IMHO!
