Re: What do you do for a living? (greatgonzoglenn)
USAF Security Forces, I train to shoot people and blow s%#t up, then I deploy all over the world and baby-sit and correct what some parents did wrong. :nono: My vette has been on hold for 24 months out of the last three years due to deployments, I am heading back to Moody AFB soon, I could always look in on your vette for you. :jester What vette is yours maybe I've seen it around? Good Luck on your upcoming deployment! :flag
Hey, are there any tank commanders on here? Gunners? You guy's are going to love the high tech toys were are developing for the future Combat systems(FCS)!!!! Of course i could tell you about them, but then i would have to kill you afterward because it is still classified!!!
Hey!!! Exactly what I used to do :D :D I loved that job (far better than being in the data comms industry during it's current death throws), if only the pay was better I'd still be doing it :) I did the Fire Control Systems, etc for Chieftain & Challenger MBTs for the Brit army (& a couple of others). Great fun - how many people can call the army in the morning, ask for access to a tank, drive it to the firing range in the afternoon & lob a few 120mm shells at a target to make sure that they've not got any S/W bugs? And do the same a couple of days later to check that the bug has been fixed. Fantastic :) If I sound like I enjoyed that job & bitterly regret leaving, it's because I did & I do! And just after I left I found out that the UK army wanted me present as a tank crew member at the next big Nato exercise in Germany (playing war with your guys) & had also OK'd my request to park my daily driver on the firing range & punch an HE shell into it from a 2 mile range (I hated that car). WTF is my timing always so off?!!
Commercial Real Estate Appraise (MAI) also read "BORING" but back in my youth I was a Gunner's Mate/Fire Control Tech, oh yeah nothing like shooting big guns, small guns, medium guns...but can't say I have ever shot my daily driver, it would have sunk before we acquired it anyway. My favorite gun?? thanks for asking, it was a trigger fired 81mm mortar piggy-backed with a 50 cal, we used them on the bow of our river boats, you flush them with the 50 and them blow them back to Uncle Ho with the mortar, it was sweet.
Linear Accelerator Engineer at a Cancer Centre. I fix machines that turn 300kV into radiation. Actually I just change the lightbulbs that go in the linear accelerators.
I am the ultimate body mechanic!!! I repair people and my job is awesome! (Physical therapy) Well worth going back to school for after earning my doctorate in motherhood!
