Default U-joint needle bearings

I was re-installing my driveshaft, and one cap came off the U-joint. When I looked inside it, three needle bearings were missing. :mad :mad

The U-joint has only 1000 km on it, so I will just replace the cap and needle bearings. Will this be a problem?

Just another minor setback. :banghead: :banghead: :banghead:

I didn't know you could buy just the cap & needle bearings. I wuoldn't think there'd be any problem as long as it's the correct size.

I always tape the caps until they're seated to try & prevent just such a thing.

You definately need them. If you don't have them, you will tear up that u-joint. If you have your old u-joints, take the bearings out of there. If not get a new joint.

Thanks for the posts.

I guess it is off to buy the identical U-joint and replace the cap. At least I will have many many spare needle bearings now.

I have been so lucky in the past with these pesky little things...

When I bought new solid ujoints from autozone I pulled the caps and checked before installing them. One of the joints was missing neelde bearings. A total of about 5 bearings were missing from two seperate caps. glad I checked it. Ive always checked to be sure. Took it back and exchanged it for another.
