Default T-Top Triangular Wedge Guides

On the rear outer corners of my 77 T-Tops there are chrome guides that the triangular guide bolts fit into. Inside the slot for these guides there are suppose to be plastic wedges.

One of my tops has the plastic and one is missing the plastic. :cry

Does anyone know of any place that sells the chrome wedge guides or better yet the plastic inserts. New or used. I have been searching the corvette parts stores online and I can't find any.

Thanks for any help.

If you get a catalog, they have a T TOp repair kit that includes all the pins and bushings. But I can't find the kit on anybodys web site.

I checked out the two links you posted. I had already gone though these sellers. They have a lot of the parts but not the rear guide I need.

I do have catalogs for these vendors also so I will go through them again incase I missed the part. I don't think so. I have looked pretty hard.

It's just not a common part or there are not repro's being made of this part.

Anybody else have a clue where to find these parts?

Check out Ebay, I've seen these parts at auction, the whole chrome piece that fits in the T-top. Be sure and check with the seller to make his have the plastic inserts. Good luck, Bob

I have been doing a search about once a week for the last month on ebay. I was thinging about buying a whole T-top but the cost is prohibitive. Never mind the shipping costs.

I have also gone through my catalogs. I have to assume these plastic inserts are just not lost or broken that often or someone would be supplying them.

I wonder if I could make one somehow.

I've seen them in most books including Ecklers. Look under T-top hardware

I want to be clear to you guys what I am talking about. There is a triangular head screw on the rear outer portion of the frame that aligns the T-Tops when they are installed.

I am not looking for the screw or the chorme plate it looks to be screwed into. I am looking for the slotted piece on the rear corner of the actual T-top.

It has a slot with a plastic insert at the bottom of it. I have seen pictures of this piece in some of the illustrations on some of the web sites but notice that there is never a part number on it.

Everyone keeps refering me to Ecklers, and Zip, and Dr. Rebuild , and all mannor of places and believe me I have checked. They do not have it on the web sites or their catalogs. Again this is not the screw with the triangular head. It's the sloted piece it fits into on the actual T-Top.

Yes, I know exactly what part(s) you are referring to as I researched the same issue about a year ago. The insert that you mention actually appears to be a white, opaque nylon material and I doubt that it was ever sold as a service part by itself... My guess is that the only way to get one would have been to order the chrome corner (if that was even available as a service part). That nylon insert most likely served to isolate vibration that may have occurred if there was metal to metal contact with the triangular pin.

These inserts turn up missing more often than you would think, but none of the aftermarket vendors seem to be inclined to manufacture a reproduction part. The solution I've settled on is to make my own from suitable nylon stock... Which I haven't located yet. It shouldn't be too difficult to make once I track down the right material though... Looks to be about 1/16" thick with a locating tab on the back.

If you have at least one for a template, you could probably accomplish the same thing that I intend to do.

Good luck, I'd be curious to hear how you make out.

Regards,

Bingo. Rowdy Rat hit it square on the head. That's what I am looking for.

I do think it might be made from something and I do agree it looks like nylon.

Does anyone know how the insert is held in. Like Rowdy Rat says it looks like a post is in the middle and it could be just a press fit or maybe there is a retainer on the back. I have not actually removed the chrome rear corner piece yet.

BTW: If I have not said it yet I appreciate all the comments on this. :)
