Default Stingray Emblem Installation

I am replacing the stingray emblem which recently fell off on the highway. The replacement has 4 unthreaded pins and adhesive tape. Is this good enough or am I going to lose the new one eventually? Has anyone done anthing better? Please share with me what you did.

i have not had that problem. mine just popped in without adhesive tape. you may want to try some sheet metal nuts on the pins.

I would just thread the pins (if they are long enough),
and put a nut behind the fender (if you can access the area.)

I think I'd be using some form of adhesive, just like the factory did.

If everything is clean and free of wax, grease, or dirt when installed the tape should hold fine.

What year is your car. On my 71 the pins stick through the quarter panel and then have what is called pal nuts on the pins. The pal nuts are self threading and actually cut the threads on the pins as you screw them on. I could access all the pins by removing my gills. My emblems did not have any tape on them at all.

The factory emblem only had adhesive, the pins are for alignment only no speed nuts!

My original emblems (cross flags) had both nuts and a tape backing. The GM NOS replacements I bought also had both the nuts and tape.

If at all possible you should use both, just to be sure.

Two screws at the top and a stud with a nut at the bottom. Look under the car towards the rocker panel and you'll see what I'm talking about.
