Default Removable back windows conversion

I remember reading something about a conversion for converting a '76. Does anyone know of any vendors that sell them?

There are no kits. You will have to buy the pieces individually on ebay or at swap meets. Use the search function for previous posts showing the parts needed. Also there is an article at http://www.corvettefaq.com on this.

Having a removable rear window in my car, I can say I never use it. It's a pain in the butt to remove and store, and the chances of breaking it increase by an order of magnitude. It's also just another thing to leak now. More power to you if you want to do it, but I could think of a lot better things to spend the money on.

OK I will admidt it's a pain to get in and out :bb
But I do love having the windows down and the back window out :D

I too leave mine out 90% of the time. But I have another question. Do you put some kind of block or something in the place where the clamp normally holds the top of the window when it's normally in? When my window is out, those chrome clamps dangle around like crazy and are quite anoying. I was thinking about making a small block so they can clamp on to keep them still.

Anybody else have this problem or have an alternative fix?

My rear window is out most of the time (except when washing the car).

I love it. It sits on the carpeted rear wheel wells. Nice mod, air pulls through the cockpit and you can hear the exhaust.

The clamps at the top should have springs that hold the clamps open. If yours are broken, I think you can drill the pin and replace them.

Thought about doing it. Duntov made fixed to eliminate that buffeting backdraft at speed "140". In a conv., hair is blown forward not back as in the movies.

I like having it too, especially in a no-AC car with black vinyl interior. I need all the ventilation I can get. The clamps I have don't rattle with the window out. They stay tight.
