I have one and so does vettefixer. Only problem I have with it is using it with my 8" damp it rubbed against the water pump. I ground down the under sid \e of the pump a little for clearence. Also hard to read once the numbers go under the timing tab so I used a black marker to mark the settings to make it easier to read. Looks much better than the stock damp.
Got one on my '73. Install was easy and it looks good. Now I don't have to worry about the outer ring on the dampener slipping. Works better than the stick-on tape.
I used the Proform cover on my 406,and the first 10 miles I drove the car it was fine. After that I heard scraping.By the time I got to work 40 miles total trip, the cover was ruined.I went back to timing tape during the distributer recurve process, and that's long since flown off the balance. The stock timing tab and balancer mark is what I use now, since I know what the curve is,I just set the initial at 15 degrees and forget about it.
The problem I had with the balancer cover is it rubbed my billet pulleys and wore through were it hit.The 400 has a 8" balancer and with the billet pulleys there's not much room between the upper and lower pulley to begin with.
I found that the timing tape markings were hard to read with the stock pointer,so I did the math and found on a 8" balancer putting a mark 2.5 inches clockwise from the stock balancer mark works out to 36 degrees. If you time the engine so the the new mark reads 0 degrees on the stock timing tab when you rev the engine to full advance, that puts the timing right where you want it.The hard part of the recurve was getting the full advance in by 3000,which is determined by the springs.
I have it on mine and you can see it in my sig pic. I wanted it because it helps a lot when setting up a timing curve and the marks won't move even if the balancer ring shifts because it's bolted on the stationary part of the balancer not the ring. When you install it you should set your engine to TDC. Then remove the timing pointer which will have to be replaced because it covers the numbers and marks. Then bolt on the balancer cover and install a pointer like the Tavia adjustable that I have. Make sure the pointer points to TDC and you're done. I've had mine on for over two years on a stock balancer and it's worked fine. Good luck.

Note to self: order Tavia timing pointer with next summit order.
