Paul79 did a piece on a set he installed in his '79 last year. Really did a good job. Do a search on lights and / or Paul79 and see what comes up. Or contact Paul67, his new handle. Jim

Re: extra lighting? yea or nay. (PROSOUTH)
Found some of Paul's posts good info but the pictures wouldn't come up.Had some of my employees go down for the shows. They taped most and got some good quality music. Nice Vette. :steering:
I installed them as daytime running lights; a visibilty/safety matter for me given the low oncoming profile of a C3. They throw very intense beams of light as you can see from this night pic. I would not use them at night for fear of blinding other drivers.
The wiring can get a little tricky. But I did it in such a way that not a single wire in the stock wiring harness has been touched. In fact those lamps can be pulled off that car in 15 minutes and aside from the four holes in the grille braces, no one would know they were ever there.

Why not try an HID kit from sylvania or other reputable companies. I really want to convert the headlights on my car sometime if I can find the 500 dollars.
HID= High Intensity Discharge. Here is more info on the sylvania kit. One of the vette magazines did a story on it a while back. The X5006 kit is the one that is suppose to fit C3s like my 71. http://www.sylvania.com/xenarc/prodinfo.htm

High Intensity Discharg. They are the Blueish/Purpley coloured lights on a lot of the new BMW/Merc and other expensive cars. They are more of a "white" then the yellowish hallogen lights. They are quite nice.
ahhhh... is THAT what they're called. They do look pretty cool, i must agree.... if slightly expensive!
... i think i'll stick with good old halogen for the time being. :yesnod:
Re: extra lighting? yea or nay. (feb18blacksunday)
I built a removable set-up that bolts in the center where the plate would normally go. It consists of 2 spotlights I scrounged off of a wrecked patrol car and lights up the night. I only use them on road trips and hook them up to my hi beams. Really great for running across Nevada! It's mainly to compensate for poor night vision :mad .
