Hey guys. My father dropped the gas tank on his 69 L36 vert so we could get the tank sticker. Now that we can get to it, how do we get that sucker off without ripping it ( the paper is flimsy and still has some glue holding it down in spots) Fortunatly everything matched up :D everything from the 427 to the white top to the a/c to the 4spd to the aux vinyll top to the 3 08 gears to the am/fm, etc. thanks for your time - Mark
Some pics of the 69 for yall -scroll down( //www.freewebs.com/markwitha72shark/myl36corvettepage.htm)

Thats a very nice car you have.
Can you gently get something under it to scrape the glue off? Make sure you take some good pictures before you try, that way if you tear it up you will still have the pics.

Me and my father attended one of the clinics on vettes in Nashville at the big gathering... the guy mentioned something about about how to get it off ( unfortunatly I was to occupied with the 67 L88 to pay attention to what he said :banghead: I've heard of the steaming technique like what people do to open envelopes  I took at boat load of pictures yesterday of the tank sticker. So far the best idea I could come up with is removing it gently with tweezers maybe? I really want to get it off so I can get it lamenated and store it with the protecto-plate and the owners manual ..... and then sell it on ebay for mucho denero and buy me an LS6 Chevelle :D

Be very careful. The paper gets brittle. That's the only advice I can give as I tore my tank sticker to pieces trying to get it off the old leaky tank. :D
I had the one pound slab of glue holding the little piece of paper onto my tank. Good thing my car is low option so I won't have to prove that it didn't come with anything.

If this is not too late, document, document, document before you do anything. Take photos. You might be able to get more help in the restoration forum.
