Default engine identification Guru's

I'm trying to nail down the engine ID for the wIfes 1973 small block.

Here are the numbers on the block:

rear of block - drivers side 3970010

front of block-passenger side- in front of head:
K03 11 CNO

also: 101163836

I've looked at the many web sites that list Chevy suffix codes, but they skip over the "CNO" suffix. Maybe it's not a Chevy engine ??????

Help!!!!

I come up with a 1968 327 cu in. 2 bolt main.

Possibly out of a GMC truck or a pontiac.

just about everything I find for 3970010 says it's a 350 cu in.

Hmmm, you are right, actually it has that number listed for both 327 and 350.

Mike,

I pulled out my old '66-'73 Chilton's Car Manual and cannot find a *CNO* extension on any GM car. Might possibly be a truck block. All of the *CN's* appear to be '70 engines and the closest things I could find were CNQ & CND. Both were vette blocks(350's).

(Edit)- added (350's)

3970010 is the 4" bore large journal block. 350, 327, 302. Can't help you with anything else, though. Good luck.

you guys are great and helpful. I am stumoped with the "CNO".

I've triple checked it and it certainly looks to be a CNO and not a CNQ.

The engine runs exceptionally strong and the car is a blast to drive.
But oh the mystery... :)

The give away on this is the letter "K" at the beginning of the stamp pad. That means the block was cast at the McKinnon foundry in St. Catherines Ontario.

Not a Corvette block.

Not a Corvette block.
Ah Ha! Mike Ward to the rescue. Any clue as to what models the McKinnon foundry made blocks for in that era?
