Default Convertible top question?

I have a 68 Convertible that is giving me a problem. The driver's side rear section/stud in the soft top won't stay down in the lock on the deck lid? You can force it, but it will pop out with any movement at all? Does this just sound like the lock/hole that it goes into is bad. It makes the rear driver's side of the top stay up high enough to stick your arm through. Please pardon all the ignorance with the wording of this question. Thanks

It could be the latch in the decklid but I would suspect a mis-adjusted convertible top. It probably needs to move rearwards just a tad, so there isn't so much sideways pressure on the pin wanting to pull it out.

:iagree: Or the pin itself could be worn or mis-adjusted. All the suppliers sell them and they aren't expensive.

There are adjustments on both the top and the deck. Also 68 pins are a smaller diameter that later ones and they often will be bent.

Mine does (did) the same thing on my 75. It was the latches stcking. I'm just in the habit now of pinching them closed before I put the deck lid down.

I had the same problem. I cleaned the latches with degreaser and sprayed new grease on the mechanisms. Now they work great. Joe

PS if you say they latch if you force them, it seems like you have to adjust the pin, too. I have to push each one down with my palm to get it to stay.
