I saw an 86 Camaro the other day, he had this ignition system that ties into the distributer and his side pipes would blow flames when he let off the gas. He says it costs about $100 and I'm thinking of doing that on my Vette. Can I get some feedback from you guys on the idea?

Personally I wouldn't do it, but there was a special on the TV show "Trucks" about it. Also...it's not a ricer modification. This was being done long before ricers. If anything it's "old school" :yesnod: .

I don't like the idea of drilling a hole into the sidepipes for a spark plug, but flames shooting out of the pipes would let people know that they actually are hot. :lolg:   :lolg:
Re: poll; throwing flames from your Sidepipes? (bloodvette80)
ACTUALLY I HAVE ALREADY DONE THAT. DIDNT PUT IN SIDE PIPES BUT IN THE EXHAUST PIPE. IT REALYY IS COOL AND THE KIDS LOVE IT, AT NIGHT IT REALLY SHOWS.
I DONT THINK THEY WILL WORK WITH SIDE PIPES- MAYBE IF YOU TAKE OUT THE MUFFLER. THEY WONT WORK WITH ANY MUFFLER UNLESS YOU CAN SEE THROUGH IT, I TRIED WITH FLOWMASTERS, NO GO JUST BACK FIRES AND BIG TIME.
DONT KNOW HOW TO DO PHOTOS HERE, BUT IF ANY BODY WAS AT THE LONE STAR CLASSIC JUST ASK THEM ABOUT THE BLUE FLAMER.

I stand corrected..did not know that

Very "old school" from the days of Lead Sleds and Coupes and lake pipes - flamethrowers were the rage in the late 50's and are still on custom cars of that era. http://www.hotrodsetc.net/menu.html - has information, kits, pictures and FAQ's.

Bloodvette80..... I'd be very careful, given I think the police could probably find a charge here (if so inclined). At the Wasaga Beach Corvette Cruize a few years back (spelling intentional) one of the guys, a racer, has a '60 Vette, modded to the max. C4 underpinnings, highly modified motor, runs on racing fuel only, etc.... Anyway....he shoots flames out of the stock exhaust tips. He has a separate fuel canister in the trunk with two spark plugs, one in each tip, tied into the ignition system. He hits a on/off switch and as he revs the flames shoot out the back. This is not for the faint of heart....when he nails it, flames shoot out 10 feet! I've been close by and felt the heat!! Amazing sight late at night though.....

i was jsut thinking, it would be pretty easy to use can's of ether, they come pressureized in an aerosol can, the hard part though is mounting a spark plug without drilling a hole in the pipes.
