Hi all,
I replaced my struts on my 74 and did my own camber alignment with a level. My problem is that my bracket bolts keep loosening from the differential, even with both a flat and lock washer for each bolt. I know my camber is out some but wonder why these bolts keep coming loose. I torqued them well more than the 40 to 45 lb specs and I used new bolts. Has any one had this experience and I want to avoid using locktite. Thanks.
John
I've heard of problems w/the adjustables some times but not regular strut rods. Did you reinstall your reducing washers? They go on both sides of each strut rod in the bracket. That could cause them to loosen up if you don't have them. W/the adjustables locktite is the way to go.
Threads are fine in the housing. I know my one wheel is way out of camber and will bring them both closer to the manual's specs, which I believe is around 1 degree. I use a digital level on top of the tire, which is not perfect but should get it close enough. I will retorque bolts tighter and see what happens. Does anyone remember the camber degrees off hand and how far you might tighen past the the 40 to 45 pounds torque specs. I certainly do not want to snap a bolt.
