But remember the taking apart is always easier, faster, cheaper, than the going back together --- plus the while-I'm-at-it curse is always lurking.......

This isn't a vette story, but it is kinda related. One of my other cars is a '74 Vega wagon. It has a 3550/350 in it. The first time I installed the engine trans (in one piece) it took me all day. I was doing it by myself. Well, I had to do some "clearancing" in the trans tunnel, so it came out again....several times. By third or fourth time, i could take it out and put it back in all as one unit, in about an hour. Mind you, this is a rotisserie restored show car, and I didn't scratch anything!
Oh the fun.
