Default A/c rebuild questions

Hello,
I have recently been working on my 68's a/c system and have a few questions about it. The system has a new condenser, working original style POA valve, new expansion valve, new hoses/muffler, flushed original evaporator, new drier bottle, newly rebuilt A6 compressor and all o-rings replaced with the green type. I plan on staying with R12 freon for now.
The compressor is a rebuilt unit and it has no oil in it. Can I fill it with Ester oil? And is this oil compatible with R12 and R134a so if in the future I can make the switch. Chevy manual states 6 oz. in compressor. 11 oz in entire system.
Does 6 oz. of oil goes into the compressor and can other amounts be charged to the system along with freon charge? or Do I add the remaining amounts to system while pulling a vacuum or can I manually pour 3 oz. of oil into evaporator, 1 oz. of oil into the condenser, 1 oz. of oil into drier bottle and 6 oz. into compressor?
After oil is added do I then proceed to put system under vacuum to see if it holds. Will the vacuum pull the oil out of the system?
Once I have oil in the system and free of any leaks, I then charge system with required amount of freon with the compressor running or while still under vacuum? Thanks and sorry if any of these question are on the dumb side.

OK, unless you have a ton of 12, I"d just say hell with it and do the 134, in the POA valve, I understand from zwede, who will probably jump in here, you turn that bolt in the discharge end of that valve..about 1/4 turn counter clockwise for 134 and then everything is normal...you get lower discharge temps that way....

Ester oil is supposed to work either way....so use it....I would put in the full oil amount into the condensor, as it will be picked up and carried rapidly, and the compressor should allready have a good oil charge in it....if not...make sure it's done beforehand....

I"d put a can or two into the system, then turn it on, and complete the second can, and maybe 1/2 can more....making about30 oz or so total charge...you do NOT fill any more than 80% of capacity AT MOST or it loosed chilly capacity....dunno why, just does....so i'ts a light charge of 134....

I think 134 cools as well as 12 and just don't beleive all the rest of the stories....IMO....

OH, the oil will NOT be sucked out with the vacuum pump, just mositure....

gotta hold 28-30 vacuum for a hour,...or you got a leak....

Thanks mrvette. So 6 oz. Ester in a dry compressor and 5 oz. into the condenser should give me adequate oil in system. On the POA valve I didn't think you could adjust the old original style. A buddy of mine has some canned R12 left over from days gone by.
