I know this topic has probably been raised a hundred times on this forum, and I know that paint color is a matter of personal choice and other considerations. My 1973 Coupe(350 standard motor, automatic) is in the body shop, and I had planned to paint it back its original white color, but when I looked at all the colors out there, I started thinking maybe I should consider another color. The color I keep looking at is metallic yellow, which I believe was only available in 1973. I also like elkhart green and dark blue metallic. My interior is black, so any of these colors will work with the interior. Just post your thoughts on this. I need help bad. I have never seen the metallic yellow in person, so this doesn't help me any. I know its my decision to make, but just for fun, what would you do if it were you?
I am partial to blue these days, both my 00 Hardtop (Nassau Blue) and my 02 PT Cruiser (Patriot Blue) are shades of blue. However, the sharks look good in bright colors, so I would opt for yellow. I like white too, Arctic or the latest C5 shade, Speedway White. Good luck with the job and post a pic when it is done. :chevy :seeya
I see Elkhart Green as one of your choices. Thats cool. Mine is that color original. Some people dont like it. Others totally love it. I like it very much. Its a peacefull color that doesnt stick out too much. But when it does catch your eye its really beutifull. The only other color I would consider painting my 73 other than its original E.G. would be some shade of light silver. Click on the link above my pic to see a fullsize pic of the original E.G. color. i have other big pics from other angles. If you wanna see em just say so and Ill post back with links to more pics of E.G. Believe it or not, most poeple change from E.G. I think this is the first time I heard someone considering changing to it.
I didn't seek out an Elkhart Green car. I sort of assumed I'd paint it black or one of several other colors when I scraped up the money to paint it.
Now that I've had the car a while, I'm hooked on the Elkhart Green. It really looks great in the sun. Even though it was the #2 color to Orange in 1972, there are very few of them around.
It hides dirt well, even though I don't let it get dirty.
You can't go wrong with any of the colors you've mentioned.
Have you looked at the colors available on the new C5 Vettes? These are all awesome colors, I'm going with the red/maroon 3 stage paint used on the 50th anniversary car on my 75.
ask and ye shall recieve..it will take me a little while cause i got a few things going on at the same time now. I gotta upload em to my host then Ill post back with links so you can click on em one at a time. they'll be up this evening sometime for sure.
:yesnod:
All corvettes are red, just kidding. I think you will be pleased if you choose a color that matches the 73-vette colors if you stray from that you ma be disappointed.
Hey dude, ya got to check out the "arrest me" red '75 on pages 40-43 in the August 2003 issue of Vette magazine. He has a black interior and it looks pretty awesome. :flag
