What would you soak a quadrajet in. I have one that is "bleeding over" from the main venturis at idle, and has no idle air/fuel mixture adjustment. The car doesn't run that bad, but I know it could run perfectly smooth at idle. Opened it up, and saw no apparent problems...except the previous owner had the fast idle cam on wrong. I assume it has a plugged up idle circuit?
WGJ,
If it's bleeding over the top at idle the float level is too high. Try adjusting it down just a bit. This should clean it up. If it re-occurs the float may be saturated and sinking. In that case you should replace it. A cheap and easy fix.
Good luck, Greg
Should have mentioned I rechecked the float, ( bought a kit ) and it is right on. It doesn't sink, because it never completly floods out, and never dies. Just spits out of the venturis, causing rough idle, and no adjustment?
Definitely not a carb expert, but I've had pretty good luck using Berryman B-12 for cleaning up carbs. Use appropriate PPE & avoid getting it on painted surfaces or composites.
