Has anyone added Dynomax headers to the stock fitting exhaust system with a big block? If so, what would I need to connect my system to the headers. I recently installed a 2.5" exhaust and a set of Dynomax mufflers. I would like to use the system If possible.
I dont think Dynomax makes a header that fits a bigblock. I asked them a couple of years ago and they did not.... didn't seem fair that the smallblock guys could get a nice set of coated headers for around $200!!! :nopity
 MJ
If you do install headers, you will replace your front exhaust pipe with a shorter curvy piece that will connect your header to the rear exhaust pipe. The rear piece should just reach thru the hole in the crossmember. I am currently using flex pipe in that position.
There are others, but the main choice is between Hooker and Headman. Hooker Supercomp are more expensive but possibly better quality (heavier guage) or no difference depending on who you talk to. I have Hooker supercomps that I had JetHot coated and are very happy with them. Uncoated (black painted) headman headers might be around $200?? I paid $570 for mine (coated). :) MJ
I used 2 inch heddman headers, made and angle cut through the middle of the collector then rotated the cut piece and rewelded it back together, Now my collectors run straight back from the headers and do not angle in towards the transmission. I then modified the crossmember by moving the hole and creating a slot that the pipes run under. Makes a better exhaust then stock and keeps the heat away from the transmission.
This is a shot of the collector and another shot of the 3 inch exhuast.
Check with the Sanderson header people, I used a set of their block hugger jet coated ones. Work great and very high quality, check them out on the web under http://www.sandersonheaders.com
