distributor end play shimming
My end play is around .100 or higher between gear and shaft body. I couldnt find info on how to shim, where to shim or what kind of shims. I'm sure it must be easy. Can someone explain. Can you get shims at NAPA? Thanks.

I'm not sure about NAPA, but most of the Corvette catalogs list them. I think the preferred clearance is .05". You have to drive out the roll pin holding the gear to the shaft. Be sure to note the way the gear came off, and install it the same way. I think there is a dot on the gear that has to line up with the rotor.

The prefered clearance is .007 - .012. The more clearance you have the more timing variation you will have.
Just drive the roll pin out, shim and reinstall the pin.

thanks, I got a set of shims at lunch from Morroso. about 5 washers total. I'm assuming I just take gear off and put shims above gear, then put back on.
