Any one know how to remove the shift knob?

Any one know how to remove the shift ****?
Its an automatic if that helps. I got the button off easy but the black **** wont come off. I would have guessed it should twist off but its not budging. Do I just need to twist harder? I thought I was going to bust off the whole shifter lastnight.

I posted on here when I took mine off of my 78 too. I thought I was going to break it I was turning it so hard. I ended up using a strap wrench on it and soaking it in some lube. Got it off though.

Just wondering for future reference, did the button just twist off also? I know I will have to take mine off one if these days to replace the boot. :confused:
