Default 76 COMPETITION 100 OCTANE RACING GAS!

Has anyone else tried this stuff. Very expensive, $4.29/gallon!!!, but man, does my car love it!!! I added 14 gallons to my tank, which according to their chart brings the octane up to 97.3, but i could tell a difference within 2 blocks after leaving the gas station. Much smoother idle and I smiled all the way back to work. Only problem is i think this tank will go very fast since my secondaries keep opening for some reason!:D I think i will have to treat my car to a tank every once in a while.

yeah, but I'm stuck out here in CA with the Smog ****'s, I think 100 is the most they will sell, unfortunately. Hell, the station i bought it at is the only 76 in the Bay Area advertinsing selling anything above 91.

I drop 5 gallons of CAM2 110 in every tank, it's $3.99 here but they won't let you put it directly into your car, you have to bring a 5 gallon jug. I used to get VP Racing fuel but it was $28 for 5 gallons. You can fill up at our local track with Sunoco Race fuel though, not sure what they charge.

I bet if you found a short track stock car racer or maybe someone racing SCCA they could tell you where to buy "the real thing"

Our 110 is in the mid three buck range here too. Fully leaded as well.

It's funny, they say on the pump that it's not for highway use (althought they let me drive right up and fill the car), but what's the difference if you burn it in a race, or burn it on the highway? It all goes into the same atmosphere anyway. :smash:

Call your local speed shop, if they are good they will know where to get it, if not talk to the local hot rod types.

Hw9-69,

Great to hear from you! Yes, the 100 octrane is good stuff, but I can get 118 octane for $4 a gallon in San Jose at Winning Attitude.

Ya I was gonna say Im in the bay area, and although I dont know exactly where they pick it up at, a few of my buddies race imports :nono: But they use 118 octane.

Although, I will say that even though I have no interest in imports, his crx would beat a lot of our cars. He runs low 10's. Completely stripped of course, but still.

I pay $4.33 for a gallon of 107 and $1.46 for 93. I usually put in 5 gallons of 107 and the rest 93 that makes a good combination :yesnod:

Hey Chuck, How are the vettes' doing? Boy I would like to try the 118. Just did a motor/ tranny swap over the winter/spring, built a 350/350, and dropped a new TH400 in, plus the misc. while youre at it stuff. Car is definately running better that with the old set up, maybe had something to do with 189,000 miles. New miles are going by though, its only been on the road since June 1 and I am just passing 3000. Good to hear from you again. take care and hope to see you on the road again.

What kind of compression ratio are you running? Do you have a stock cam or are you running something with more duration? Did you try advancing your timing to see if that improved your performance a little more. You may find that it does, especially if you were running a bit retarded to allow for the lower octane fuel. Another thing I've found that works very well is AVGAS. They won't let you drive your car onto the tarmac to fill up, though. You have to carry the cans up to the pump. I found a 50-50 mix of AVGAS with 93 pump gas worked well in my '69 Z23 with the 11:1 DZ302.
