Re: engine rebuild (rmm025)
Lots'a options here :bb How's bout'a good book on the subject. :D I like David Vizards: How To Build Max Performance CHEVY Small Blocks On A Budget - <$20 Mail order. :yesnod: Just good motor head reading a great referance too. :chevy
I bought and read Vizard's book when I did mine this spring. For whatever it's worth you can see what I did to my L-48 in my signature. It really comes alive above 3000 RPM. Low end didn't change much. Looking to recurve the distributor next. If you don't care about numbers matching, you can get the 330 HP Vortec from GM for about the same as what I spent on mine.
A CompCam 260H (a very mild cam), true dual exhausts w/no cat converters. Weiand Action Plus Aluminum Intake, and a Lars Recurve kit Desk Dynoed me @ 275HP w/no other mods. A little bigger cam would have got me even more. Just some top end additions and a cam make 300HP EZ to get.......
