Yesterday the tach needle started to bounce upon acceleration in my L82. Did this for a while then worked normally. I changed tach board in the orig. tach unit a couple years ago. Could this be a mechanical problem in the tach itself. Any help would help. Thanks. Paul.
There is a tach filter under the hood next to distributor, in line with the tach lead into the harness....and it's needing grounding....IF you worked on the engine and didn't ground it with that mounting tab...forgot about it....
that's the issue....if not...well i'ts needing replacement...you could try a junkyard or if you got bux....new one reproduction....OR you can spend 5 bux at radio shack and buy the parts to make one....look here in archives, someone supplied the schematic/wiring diagram of that filter, and parts list to make one....
Gene. I replaced tach filter also however, I will check ground. Hope I don't have to replace tach. Of course it's orig and has the L82 logo on it's face. Keep ya posted.
Just also read prior threads that ben posted. The reason I replaced tach filter was because one of the wires broke off. I'll try to test the one that's on their now.
