Got a pair of solid black t-tops with the pace car silver insert from the guy I bought my car from. I have the mirrored ones also. Have always wondered about the black ones but could never find any info on them. Guessing they are a custom. Anyone know?

Re: 78 Pace Car T-top? (Pacin'California)
Not moon roofs. I think he is saying he has some fiberglass solid tops, that are painted black outside but has silver cloth inside.
I don't know if those are custom, but the tops I have always seen on the pace cars are the mirrored glass tops.
Ditto to Seery, I think that's what he is saying. I have a set of fiberglass too....I use them for everyday driving...don't want to harm the glass ones since they are so hard to come by and expensive...I recommend the same to you..hold on to them...
Mine look like some glass (plastic?) was installed IN the fiberglass frame- I always thought it was some kind of aftermarket customization that was cheaper than real glass tops.
I have a pair of 78 pace car glass tops that I sometimes use on my 79. They are to hot in the summer. Heck, I havent used them for two years now. Just sitting in my basement.

Do your tops have a solid edge, about 3 inches, all the way around ? And then a see-through plastic / glass center section ?
If so, those are the ULTRA-RARE "moon roofs". Not many of them around. Check e-bay, NCRS, or the archives here for more information on those.
