After doing a little research (very little!) and talking to Jere Stahl, I am going to have a set of Stahl headers (1 5/8" primarys) and side pipes (3 1/2") fabricated.
My car has a Fast Burn 385 crate motor (love it!), PS, PB and 4-speed.
I am not currently running sidepipes, so now the part where I really sound ignorant, how do the sidepipes mount to the car?
You will need to have a bracket attached to the rear underside of the sidepipe and bolt it to the underside of the frame. There is a slotted hole there and you can use a carriage bolt with some rubber bushings. Craig
:iagree: There are keyhole-shaped mounting locations on the underside of the frame rails and also on the sides of the frame rails behind the rocker panels. The points behind the rockers are where the Hooker side tubes mount; check with your supplier where your custom ones will mount.
:iagree: thats how mine are mounted, but they were isntalled when i bought mine. I've seen a few older vettes including a siler 69 with chrome pipes, looks awesome with the shark gills. Try to keep the aluminum side covers if you can. The silver 69 i mentioned had them removed and it looks like :U because u see the frame and the poorly finished fibreglass bottoms of the rockerpanels.
Yep - I reused my 2-piece black 69 rocker panels behind the pipes which really sets them off with the chrome tubes. If he's talking the factory 69 style covers, he wouldn't need them since the covers replace the rocker panels altogether. :seeya

I'd really like to hear more about what they are making for you. Are the side pipes going to go behind the factory style covers or are they more like the Hooker style, just 3-1/2" diameter?
