I know steel spring drop after a few weeks of driving, do composites also? I installed a new composite spring last night and the car is sitting about an inch higher than they specs call for, one side is about an half an inch higher than the other. I've lower the nuts as far as I can go on the adjusting bolts at the end of the spring. Just to check I cranked one of the adjusting nuts completly up and it made less than a half inch of difference on the frame to ground height on that side.
I've have had my Vette Brakes mono spring on the rear for about a year now and it still sits high. I installed the lowering bolts and it still sits like a 4X4 in the rear. There are a couple of us on the forum with this problem. Hope it works out for you.
My 360 lb VB composite has been on for 6-7 years now and hasn't dropped a bit. Set it up with 8" bolts and my rear fender lip is now at 28" +/- 1 /8".
The only change I made was when I replaced the P275 60's with the P295 50's I lowered the height by adjusting the spring bolt some.
I'm one of the ones Corey was talking about. I put 10" bolts on the spring and it looked awesome, but that put the end of the spring about 3/8" from the sidewall of the tire. Now I'm at about 8 1/2" and still looks like my Z71.
I installed a VB&P 330 pound spring in the rear of my '79 a month or so ago. In the course of doing a front mono spring last week I took measurements all the way around after driving the car with the front mono spring for 2 days. I made the adjustments that I could and drove one more day, again checking my height. During all of the checks the rear mono spring stayed consesent at 27.75 inches. I went to the drag strip and made 7 passes. The next day the car was sitting a half an inch lower in the rear. This with a lot less fuel than I had in the car all week. Maybe the poly bushings just finally decided to settle in.
Take it to the drag strip and see if you can get yours to settle too.
I would like to use longer spring bolts to lower the car, does any know who sells Grade 8 9/16 X 8 fine thread hex head cap screw, nobody in Toledo carries them. One nut and bolts supplier said they could order them in a box of 25, but i really didn't want to spend $100 for two bolts.
