Is Jet Hoat coating something you can buy and apply by yourself, like paint, or is it something that needs to be done by a shop with specialty equipment, like powder coating?
If the former, where an you buy the product?
If the later, how is the best way to go about finding a shop which does such services?
We would like to have our headers coated, as they are not the sharpest looking thing in the engine area. :)
OK, thanks Steve!
Do you know if you could have the pipes coated as well as the headers. It is a 4" Hooker setup, and we would want the pipes to look as nice as the headers. :)
I'm 99.9% sure they can do that too. If anything, it would be easier in my mind. :) Go for it.
Give them a ring.

PS Could you do me a favor and ask how much it would cost to have a set of hooker comp headers for a small block chevy coated? 1 5/8" primaries x 24" length. No accessories (like AIR) on the header.
Call up Chris at Jet Hot. 1-800-432-3379 ext 110. Tell him that you're with Corvette Forum and he should hook you up. You're probably looking at between $400 and $500. I'm looking at doing the same to my pipes.

They were great to deal with. Forum members get a 15% discount- or at least that was the case when I had my headers done a few months ago.
They do coat inside & out. They carry a full line of Hooker headers too. It was much cheaper to buy my headers directly from them vs. just having them apply the coating.
I agree with getting them done by jet hot or another coating style company like HPC. Mine were done 2 years ago and look great. I had a problem with some discoloration on the tubes after about 6 months, and they told me to send them back and they redid them for nothing!
In the past I tried to do them myself with POR 15 header paint and it was horrible. It flaked off in 5 minutes. It is well worth hte cost to have them done.
I have seen Jet Hot.. Good product. For those in SF Bay Area, if you take the drive to Sanderson in South S.F., they will get your stuff turned around in 4 days. Get your headers there and you could get same day if not special ordered. Pay cash and you will get a nice surprise on the price... They do a really nice job, almost looks like chrome and they do the inside and out... For a price point, I paid 140 for my headers coated (out the door, cash price) If outside the area and dealing with Mail, it would be more expensive....
FYI: I just talked to Chris at Jet Hot. The cost for a set of Hooker SuperComp headers and sidepipes (without mufflers) would be $942 delivered. The cost to have them strip and coat your current set is $237.30 + shipping. Summit gets $389.95 for the headers and $209.69 for the sidepipes. You do the math. (Dangit!! The 10% off deal at Summit ended yesterday. Why didn't I call yesterday?!?!??!) Mention something about the GP and the Forum if you talk to Chris.
