I am having trouble with either vapor lock or something like it in my '69 vert. It got so bad that it died in the tech line at the track. The engine doesn't come close to over-heating with the BeCool radiator. Here's the setup:
I use a stainless braided -6AN line from the pump to the Edelbrock #1405 Performer carb. The line comes out of the pump with a 90 degree fitting, comes straight up between the block and bottom radiator hose then curves horizontally along the base of the valve covers until it gets to the inlet banjo fitting. The line then gently loops around to make the connection at the rear of the carb. I even have one of those heat reflecting sheaths running the entire length of the fuel line.
Under hood temps are very hot due to the Hooker Comps. The intake (Performer EPS) gets very hot as does the carb. Could the fuel be boiling inside the carb and not the fuel line?
I'd really doubt that is happening inside the carb. Is it only not starting when very hot? have you taken the intake off to make sure the choke is not engaging?
I cant remember exactly what it was but on an episode of the simpsons(the one where homer coaches barts football team) joe montana's car gets vapor lock and they said how to fix it i believe. Anybody remember, how about you homer, i mean BSeery :jester
