What do you think about this idea?
I'm think about this possibility. Eventually, maybe sooner :D I plan on adding Hooker sidemounts to my 454. I'm going to use Jet-hot sterling finish headers, but for the side tubes was thinking of using Chrome sidetubes instead of the sterling finish. This would give me more durability in the engine compartment to the rear of the front tire then real showy for the side tubes, where, from the chrome ones I've seen durability/chips/blueing aren't an issue. :chevy

I think chrome would be the way to go --- match those ultra cool wheels.
What have you got in there now? Headers? Exhaut manifolds? I'm gathering parts for a 454 swap into the "nothing fancy"'77 and might be interested in helping you with the cost of the new system, by buying what you have now.

Re: What do you think about this idea? (rrent)
I'm just wondering what the sterling/chrome matchup would look like where the headers meet the sidetube.
Goin' 454 eh? Can't help you with parts though because there's a 350 residing in the engine bay right now. What kind of buildup are you planning? Mild? Wild? Even a mild BB has tons of torque. :yesnod:
Re: What do you think about this idea? (1970 Stingray)
I think the sterling finish would match the chrome pretty well. It if was just the regualr Jet hot I'd be iffy, but the stering is VERY close to the chrome finish.
Either way you can't go wrong with side pipes.
