1968 L88 on ebay

You mean outside of the fact that it is the wrong master cylinder for your application? :)
Seriously though (and although strange things have happened on the assembly line), it seems unlikely that the assembly plant would have made this particular substitution. If I remember correctly, there was a difference in the piston bore size between the "509" and "346" castings to vary the pressure to compensate for the vacuum assist... It's not exactly like sending someone down to the hardware store if you run out of ½ bolts.
To be honest Eric, I'd love to go check this car out, but the timing is really lousy... I'm finishing one restoration and just purchased another project car... I'd would like to finish one or two of my current projects before jumping into another one. It doesn't prevent me from maintaining an interest in what is happening with these cars though.
Regards,
My build sheet also said my car should be Corvette Bronze but the trim tag is coded for Lemans Blue and a dark blue interior which it does have. Everything else matches so I think the order for the paint color must have been changed at some point during assembly. The car was only repainted one time and the same same color at that -Lemans Blue (I know, I stripped it down to the glass for my resto).
Anyhow, I think exceptions were probably made on the line but I'm no NCRS judge and haven't looked at that many untouched survivor Corvettes, especially L88's.
I wish the new owner of this L88 all the luck in the world. If this "broker" doesn't get his asking price, I still got $6K in cash ready to buy!!!!
That car'd make a great pro-streeter all tubbed out.* ;)
*Just kidding.....
The Best of Corvette for Corvette Enthusiasts
He wants $60k for a car that noone can go and look at. He'll keep trying and maybe someone will come along.
It is certainly his right to set the rules as he see's fit. I informed him this sent up 'Red Flags' to any one seriously interested in this car. I have decided that I will avoid this L88(?) until the waters become clearer.

Lets flood him with e-mails telling him what a jerk he is :cuss :cuss :cuss
"......I'd rather invest big money in a rotary dial phone manufacturer's stock hoping for rotary dials to come back in vogue, than pay some of the money that's being handed over for many of these cars today.

Can you take me as an partner ? Sounds more profit than this ebayvette.
Robert
My guess is that the broker is trying to leverage the entire sale.
I doubt that the owner has any idea what the car is being offered for sale for. If someone was allowed to make a personal inspection of the car and the topic of price came up, I'd be willing to bet that the broker would have some explaining to do...

There is a certain 1971 Corvette that I have kept track of for several years... Psuedo-Pro Street car... Tubbed with a narrowed solid rear axle, but relatively stock outside of that.
Car is an original ZR-1.
I have thoughts of buying it every couple of years, but at current prices, the cost of restoring it doesn't make a lot of sense financially. It isn't going anywhere anytime soon so I'll continue to keep tabs on it.
A pro street L-88 wouldn't surprise me at all... As I said, I've seen some pretty strange things. :)
