Re: Toronto/area dyno day final confirmation... (SuperFast80)
Hey flav. One thing, when they where setting up my car, Chris and Amir were looking for something, I think they called it a 'Kick Down Switch'? My car dosn't have one? Amir said the bracket was there, but no switch. Is that a TH350 thing, or is there a reason to permanently remove it?
From: Who says "Nothing is impossible" ? I've been doing nothing for years.
Re: Toronto/area dyno day final confirmation... (Dwayne 76)
Amir I forgot to tell you, it looks like you might have a drivers side motor mount broken, you should get that checked out, motor lifted too much on the dyno
Re: Toronto/area dyno day final confirmation... (SuperFast80)
What about the others?
I was very pleased. With a 76,000 mile stock L-48 I pulled 203 rwhp and 284 torque. All that's been done is true duals (with cats) and a Lars re-curve.
Re: Toronto/area dyno day final confirmation... (MotorHead)
Whos car was the one that was pinging?? ive never heard a car ping before... I also heard some guys saying the timing was set low just to be safe or somethin... wuts the deal with that one... somethings up there.
Re: Toronto/area dyno day final confirmation... (DieL)
When an engine like my ZZ4 with high 10.5 CR pre-ignites due to combination of low octane and high BTDC (timing), there is an unmistakable "ping" that could lead to engine distruction.
Re: Toronto/area dyno day final confirmation... (MotorHead)
Congratulations on a great day with some very fine cars! I can't wait to do a dyno day again once mine is back on the road. The new roller lifters I got, one was defective. The horizontal tie bar was binding. So more delays, but fortunately, Summit is standing behind it, even though I bought them last year. I am so bummed that even when I get the time to finish the car, something always seems to come up causing another delay.
Anyway, thanks for "Tales of Toronto" so that I can live the day vicariously. It does get me pumped!
Re: Toronto/area dyno day final confirmation... (Ghostrider)
Jack find a high volume Sunoco station, I tend to get mine at hwy 9 and Airport rd but even there I get the odd poor tank and get that unmistakeable ping. Do you have a timing gun? I quit doing the dyno thing after we used to do them with our 911's and one guy got so upset at the results that he virtually trashed his car. I liked Matt Gruber's description of dyno racers, I have seen cars that produced relatively poor dyno results blow away those with higher #'s on the track many a time.
Re: Toronto/area dyno day final confirmation... (gdh)
i agree with you on the dyno racers comment. :iagree: BUT, dynos dont lie. Two cars dynoed on the same machine will show wich one of the two makes more power. Now the most important thing is how it is used. RPM range, weight of the car, type of tire, gearing in the rear and tranny ratios etc. there are so many variables involved with dyno #s not producing the best ETs.
When you guys doing this again?? hopefully ill be able to dyno mine too... but i dont want those front straps on my wheels... can they strap it anywhere else???
Re: Toronto/area dyno day final confirmation... (desi)
Here's my sheet ...... there is hope out there for wimpy little L-48's
Advertised by GM at 165 net horse, I've added 2.5" true duals with high flow cats and a LARS re curve kit. This engine has 76,000 miles on it. I'm happy ............... for now ... :reddevil
