Let me first say that I speak for all Canadians when I say we should name it the Toronto Shark Pack, as Toronto is the center of Canada, it would only seem appropraite. Ok, here is the change The Ontario section would be good, as Ontario is the center of Canada....blah blah blah :grouphug:

We Canadians call Toronto the center of the universe because people from there seem to beleive that is. I'm from Ontario originally, and beleive me, it's a good place to be FROM!!! As in AWAY from!!! There's more to Canada than T-dot thank GOD. The west is the best by far. I'd rather climb a mountain than the CN tower any day!!! Crazy flatlanders
Great white north sounds good to me

Is there anything wrong with being gay? Being from North Bay, you are in NO position to insult :lolg: anyone

I think "Canadian Events Forum" is straight and to the point.

I've lived in To. and Vcr. Edm, Calgary, parent's still live in Vcr. but by far the best area of Canada is the east coast, nothing nicer than Nova Scotia, PEI, NB and especially the "Rock" Nfld. for the landscape and most of all the best ppl by far. Lay back chill out and have an Alexander Keith's.

I haven't been to the east coast.... yet, but have heard lots of good things. I just didn't like the idea of naming the Canadian section after T.O. or Ont.

I made the mistake once I've PAYING to see a CASCAR event, in Cayuga. First off, Cayuga is probably one of the worst venues I've ever been to. POORLY run, in fact I would compare the organization of the CASCAR / NASCAR Shoot Out to that of a Shot Gun wedding. The cars that were used were bad, and thats not just my opinion, many of the NASCAR drivers that came to this event were also disappointed with the cars they were given to use. I believe that by having NASCAR come up here there would be better oppertunities for our CASCAR drivers, therefore givnig them more exposure to a MUCH bigger market and more sponsership money, instead of spinning around 1/2 mile tracks. Sorry if I offended you Michael.
No offense taken Dwayne, but I think your rationale is flawed. It's all about the money. The majority of the NASCAR teams have huge budgets, they spend in one race what our guys run on for a season. Sponsorship ... uh .. ok, most of the CASCAR teams are sponsored by comparatively small companies, the series events have very little race to race purses and the Championship winnings ... next to nil. ($50,000) For a Canadian driver to have a chance in NASCAR, they would have to work thier way up in the ranks just as the US drivers do. I agree with you on the cars, NASCAR technology is 30 years ahead of CASCAR, BUT, when the NASCAR guys came up, they weren't running junk, they were running the back up cars, just as well equipped (if you wanna call it that) as their CDN counterparts.

Now, as to not TOTALLY hi jack this thread, I think CANADIAN EVENTS CALENDAR would be a fine title, and IF there is enough room, divide us into geographical regions.

Once again, thanks CF.

BTW, after the dyno run, the CASCARS are having a "night run" at Mosport, anyone interested?

I am continually being edumicated on this forum, had never heard of CASCAR until this thread. Given I am not a big NASCAR fan, a low budget version of it holds even less allure. I like watching the CART/INDY/F1 road racing - well I should stipulate - the racing that takes place on tracks where passing is a relatively easily attainable feat. I used to race 1/4 for bikes (Kawasaki) in the early 70's in Mission BC so I have seen many different racing events in Canada, really liked the CanAm races but just don't remember anything about CASCAR.

I know what you mean about the money, and I have thought about that. But CASCAR is a lot like the CFL, its small. Not that thats entirly bad, but I'd really like to see more Canadian drivers take on NASCAR. If Ron Fellows is any indication of the qualilty of potential Canadian NASCAR drivers, we need to get more in there. As for the CFL, I really want an NFL team in Toronto. Thought that won't happen any day soon.

:D You know, I love stock car racing, but where is Mosport? I'll go to any stock race, as long as its not Cayuga. Actually, maybe you could arrange something with the track to allow us to have special parking, that is away from everyone elses cars.

Mosport is near Bowmanville, just north actually. If enough guys are interested I can contact the track but at this late stage ...........

Ddecart, thanks for going through the trouble of trying to setup a seperate forum for us Canuckles, but in all honesty I don't see it being used. I, as do many others, prefer to live in C3. Although its a neat idea, it may not work the way its intended. I just did a poll recently on what people thought the Forum should be used for. There has been an overwhelming response to using it for tech issued AND social event planning. Again, thanks for goin' through the trouble.

Well folks. Like it or not, you now have your very own event section for Canadia!

Click Here for the Great White North, eh?
http://forums.corvetteforum.com/zeroforum?id=97

It's all of one more section for Canadians to check in on. With the concentration of people around Toronto, I suspect it'll be a handy communication forum for you guys up there. Just be on the lookout for George. For those of you that missed him, he came and went yet again recently.

btw, yes, this does mean Canadian event planning will get moved to the Canadian Event section if it's not a general interest C3 thing. :yesnod:
