Default Movable BB.

Got my BB off your typical engine stand and onto this mobile shorty engine stand on wheels I found at Jegs. It's a pretty cool setup. Engine sits lower to the ground and allows access to the front and rear of the engine. The stand mounts to the engine mount holes and it's pretty easy to move this BB around.

Using this stand, I should be able to mount the clutch & tranny and swap both as a complete unit.

Those things are really handy. I still need to pick one up to hold my old 350 for storage. Right now it is on the normal stand and takes up tons of room in the garage.

The guy that built my engine makes some stands pretty close to the one you have for storing engines on. Nice way to keep a bunch of engines stored.
Now for the real deal. The stand is nice but your motor looks schweet!!!!
I bet your getting excited!!!!!

Looks good, I don't know how I could have survived through my project without an engine stand on wheels.

No roller rockers or Hooker sidemounts yet :cry --maybe next year :cry

Bob---I really don't have a lot of time to spend on the Vette, but I'm hoping to have the clutch & tranny done this month and start engine removal in Sept.

Len, that motor looks awesome. Myself, I can't wait until you drop the motor in the car and give us a report on how it is running.

Maybe I'm nuts, but I really think that would make a great addition to any livingroom or den as high class sculpture.

Chuck---great minds think alike! :lolg: Don't think the Mrs. will go for it though, she had a tough time dealing with me taking over the entire garage with engine parts. :D

Ed---yeah me too. I'll have my fingernails chewed down to my knuckles the night before.

You may think I'm nuts, but a buddy of mine built an engine cradle/stand similar to that is very similar, except it was built to be used as an engine test stand to fire it up before installing in the car. It's adjustable and fits Ford, Chevy whatever.

I've used it several times on my 427 and 540 and it works great. I just install the flywheel, starter, headers etc on engine along with water pump and a mechanical fuel pump. I stick the radiator from car and hoses in front of it with a box fan blowing air through it. Leave thermostat out so lots of water moves. If you had electric fans it's even easier to hook them to battery. The gas comes from a can feeding the pump. I have a test panel set up with water temp and oil pressure gauges along with on/off switch that just hangs on back of motor. I hang some mufflers on ends of headers and let 'er rip!

You can run it almost indefinitely and the stand has proven to very stable. A running engine really doesn't move around much. It has been great to test fire it and run it to check for any problems. The last two times I did it to make sure all was well, then bolted it back to engine stand to change oil etc and run the valves before taking it to the dyno.

It sure would be a PITA to find an oil leak or something AFTER it's in the car!

Oh yeah......BEAUTIFUL engine!! You're going to have fun soon!
